Thursday, June 14, 2018 was a beautiful summer day in Toronto. Just like thousands of others across the city, about 15 children were playing in their community playground, in the McCowan Road and Steeles Avenue area of Scarborough.
At approximately 5 p.m., two men stepped out of a car in a nearby parking lot, pulled out handguns, and started shooting at the playground, firing as many as 10 rounds. Two sisters, aged five and nine, were shot; the younger one in the abdomen and the older one in the leg. Both were rushed to the Hospital for Sick Children and underwent multiple surgeries. Both are expected to fully recover.
Toronto Police Service investigators identified three suspects in this senseless shooting. The first suspect was apprehended on June 15 and charged with two counts of attempted murder.
On June 29, Toronto Police Service released the pictures of the other two suspects. Tarrick Rhoden and T’Quan Robertson, both 23-year-old, are wanted on Canada-wide warrants for numerous charges including attempted murder and aggravated assault.
Robertson is from Toronto and has numerous connections in the Greater Toronto Area. He is also known as “Top Gunna.” He must be considered armed and dangerous. Anyone offering Robertson assistance in evading arrest may be considered an accessory after the fact, which is punishable by up to 14 years in prison.
