The investigation revealed that Peter had gone untreated for his disease during the six months leading to his death. His belly was swollen to such a size that he was probably unable to eat or breathe. His parents, Rosaleen and Archie Wallace, failed to seek proper medical attention for Peter. Given the gravity of the case, prosecutors charged both of his parents with manslaughter instead of failure to provide the necessaries of life.
